In February 2022, a spin-off of the series Vikings: Valhalla was released. This historical drama tells the story a century after the events of the original series. Series plot
The events take place during the decline of the Viking Age. King Edward the Martyr of England is succeeded by his younger brother, Ethelred II the Wise. On his orders, a real massacre takes place on the island of Denmark on the day of St. Brutus. Relations intensified. Nordic and Danish Vikings prepare to march on England. Knud the Great gathers an army. The King of Norway also prepares an invasion of England, intending to take the throne. The Duke of Normandy also covets power. Ethelred prepares to repel all attacks. But his sudden death changes everything.
His son Edmund the Ironborn takes the throne. As the Vikings discuss plans to attack London, Edmund prepares a plan for defense. But the young king's zeal gets the better of him. The Vikings manage to trap him. The Vikings defeat the Saxons and invade London. Cnut forbids Edmund's execution, saying he will be the first Norse king of England. Emma and her children, captured by Olaf, also escape execution.
