In January 2022, the creators of The Boys announced that the third season of the series would be launched on June 3 this year. At the same time, the creators unveiled a short teaser, done in the team's typical ironic tone: in the video, Homelander and Starlight participate in a photo shoot. Anthony Starr's character tries to appear friendly and smiles widely, but the superhero's welcoming expression gradually becomes intimidating. To continue the theme of madness and introduce the new characters, the show's creators opted for the first teaser trailer, which was released on March 12 on the YouTube Prime Video channel.
The video presented looks more like a music video than a trailer in the usual sense of the word: in the video, the characters don't say a single sentence, which would at least partially reveal the plot of the third season. Instead of words, the superheroes sing and dance to Bones, a song by Imagine Dragons created especially for The Boys. The song was actually released on March 11, but the performers did not mention that the single could be heard in the new episodes of the superhero series.
The trailer begins with a shot of Billy Butcher looking at himself in a mirror, when suddenly his eyes start to glow. Next, the writers show the characters already known to the audience: Homelander, Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Marvin Milk (Las Alonso). Slow-motion scenes introducing the characters are interspersed with dance inserts where the superheroes move around the stage to the tune of Bones' chorus. The reel is not without its dirty scenes, with Team Avenger blowing up troublesome opponents and shooting at undesirables over and over again.
In addition, the trailer shows the first images with Jensen Ackles as Soldier - through this image, the creators of "The Boys" decided to make fun of the pathos of Captain America in the Marvel comics. Towards the end of the video you can meet Depth, played by Chace Crawford, Kimiko, played again by Karen Fukuhara, and Queen Maeve, played by Dominique McElligott.
Speaking of which, March 4, 2022 saw the premiere of the animated series The Misfits, one of the upcoming spin-offs of The Boys. In February, the creators unveiled a full trailer for the film. It turns out that each of the eight episodes will be made with different animation styles. For example, viewers will be able to enjoy cartoons inspired by French comics, Korean horror and classic American animation. At the same time, fans of the original series are expecting another spin-off: an anti-superhero story is expected to expand on a school for people with supernatural powers. The release date and plot details have unfortunately not been revealed.
